Boo You, Disney .. you and your lack of emphasis on platonic love, MY MAIN BITCHES ARE THE SHIT.

When it comes to matters of love, it's often platonic devotion that proves the most intimate and carries the most weight in one's life. It's the love stories of friendship, the decades-spanning, unbreakable connection to someone that stays around as lovers come and go. Yes, romantic love is an all-encompassing illness of the heart, but without a best friend to guide you, life becomes less tolerable. Cinema has long been awash in tales of romantic love, of course, but it's rare to see a tale of love between two female best friends, especially one that genuinely shows what it is like to have that kind of soul mate, without whom everything else would be askew. But with Noah Baumbach's latest film,Frances Ha, we see one woman's journey of self-discovery, ignited by a fractured friendship.

Colour Feel

I propose we each complete individual color exercises similar to the one in the image and share them with each other - fun activity AMIRITE? Jess, I remember you and I discussing this at some point but we never ended up actually doing the 'exercise'.

I remembered this photo I saved after having this strange experience when I was hanging out with my new friend Fred the other day. What happened was, he came over just as Caroline was leaving my place, we all spoke at the door for a few minutes (Humphrey was getting his advice on planning a trip to Central America) and then she left. He was wearing... A button down plaid shirt that was both bright green and vibrant blue, creating a sort of aqua color when the two colors overlapped. We were sitting on the couch discussing our days in my mellow-vibes, uncluttered, humid apartment. He was speaking really quickly, perhaps even over-zealously and my mood was much more mellow. And that's when and where it happened, me straddling him as he gently stroked my arms and spoke to me on the couch. I don't know what came over me exactly or even how I was acting, but at one point he just looked me in the eye and said, "I get the feeling you're about to kick me out or something", which I randomly wasn't even surprised to have heard him say. I simply replied, "Fred, I know this is going to sound ridiculous but would you mind taking off your shirt. I'm having some sort of reaction to the color combination". He gladly took it off... later that night we had sex so he would have taken it off anyways I suppose..but still..

What was THAT?

I'm not quite sure exactly what happened in my brain to cause this flustered outburst. I know I felt a total aversion to his shirt though. I'm certain it must have been a culmination of factors; my mood, his mood, his shirt, my white apartment (and comfort zone), the pace at which he was speaking. BUT STILL.

So now, I am seriously considering colors and the way they make me feel.

TO MY BEAUTIFUL BEST FRIENDS

to my four gorgeous, incredibly bright ladies with wonderful lives to lead.

obviously most of these are annoying and narcissistic and egomaniacal like hannah is.

but still obviously AMAZING - such a testament to lena dunham's writing... and after having said that they're all narcissistic and egomaniacal, i hate that i can obviously identify with most of them.

this is my all time favourite poem.

i have it now as my desktop background and therefore read it every morning.

it helps me start my day and so i am sharing it with you beauties.

very rarely do i feel like i want to be in love - except when i read this.

a little taste of my favourite part:

I will remember the kisses
our lips raw with love
and how you gave me
everything you had
and how I
offered you what was left of
me,
and I will remember your small room
the feel of you
the light in the window
your records
your books
our morning coffee
our noons our nights
our bodies spilled together
sleeping
the tiny flowing currents
immediate and forever
your leg my leg
your arm my arm
your smile and the warmth
of you
who made me laugh
again.

You should give it another chance but I understand context ruining something like that.

Let's try this:

Re: Yesterday

Read this on a blog early yesterday and didn't get a chance to post. Still relevant though, hope you all had great gal-entines. Love each of you.

Today is a celebration of LOVE. For our boyfriends. Our moms. Our dads. Our brothers. Our sisters. Our friends old. Our friends new. Our jobs. Our dreams. Our homes. Our successes. Our self-realizations. The light at the end of all our roads. A celebration of life. So rather than rush last second to the corner shop and buying a cheesy 99 cent Valentine's Day card and some chocolates and roses that you've contemplated the color of with the sales person for over an hour, why not go face to face with the people you love right now and say it right then and there. That you love them. And then let them know why. And think about all the things you take for granted each day and set them aside in your mind for a bit to think about why they are so much more meaningful now than how they felt just yesterday. Better later than never to realize and acknowledge all those people and things that we LOVE from the bottom of our hearts, and to never let go of that love because it is what will keep driving us forward. And in the end, love is all we've got. And because of that, it's all that matters. So open up your hearts today people, and let the love in and let it out. Happy Valentine's Day!!

Also

These nudes are completely blowing my mind.

I love how 'not safe for work' is kind of not a thing when you work at an art gallery.

I woke up to the sound of geese flying past my window. 'Spring is on the way to melt the snow and confuse the heart.'

I love you, each of you.

Charlotte Cardin-Goyer x BARILÀ

My friend Kevin just shared this video he just directed with these words:

Fell in love with Charlotte when her agency showed me her secret youtube channel. She had a week to learn how to play this (off a youtube tutorial) and worked incredibly hard. She just recently turned 18 is the most charismatic/hark working person i've met. Perfect for Barilà.

Can you say taking advertising to the level of art?

I'd love to see some things you ladies like.

BUT in the meantime:

I somehow have only now come across The Arduous and I think it's a totally original aesthetic and, well,

I learned to share.

Nobody puts Beady in a corner...

I did some Bweeding (bead-with-weed-ing) tonight and realized that Lianne La Havas knows whatsup. After a recent emotional rewatching of Dirty Dancing and some sleepy dreamy alone/high time I have come to the realization that ..............Lianne and Solange could team up and rule the world. Jus' sayin'.

FOODGAWKER IS THE BEST THING TO HAPPEN TO ANYONE ANYWHERE.

Childhood Girl Games

Dream Phone

Objective: Be the first to guess the Secret Admirer—he's one of 24 guys. Each guy has his own card with a phone number. Call him up and he'll give clues ("He's not at the mall!") to help you narrow down the options.
WTF aspect: So, wait. There's one Secret Admirer but multiple girls playing the game? So he "likes" all of us? Typical.
What it taught us: Cordless phones are the best. And true love is totally out there! You just have to look for it at the beach, gym, snack shop, movie theater, mall, or amusement park.

But it's true right?
